Utah Rocks!

Wyoming isn’t bad either…

Welcome to day– (?) of our trip. It could have been day three or three hundred. When you are driving and driving and driving (did I mention the part about driving?) yes… well, the days just kind of collapse into one another.

Besides… there really is no telling how long the aliens held us against our will.

I do want to say that Utah is probably the coolest state. That’s just my two cents which you didn’t ask for but got anyway.

The scenery changes and never ceases to impress- that and it rocks.

All over the place.

Cedar City, UT

I was going to say something about how high we were but didn’t
want anyone to get the wrong idea…
Beck, why? Why are you so you?
Pano view with Mini Me
It was freezing by the way. And while I get technically freezing is 32 degrees
36 is just too close
We were ill equipped.

Onward! (which really just means drive some more)

Bryce Canyon National Park (Utah)

Bryce Canyon was spectacular. We surmised that this is where the gods dropped off the onions (that’s Beck for younguns’ which is southern for young children) when they all wanted to go out. Turns out Baby gods are very tidy– they leave their toys stacked up very nicely.

I desperately wanted to hike this canyon but time was against us. No, that’s not it– Thing One was against us.

“NO time for that! Onward!” he said (repeatedly). “We must get to our hotel.”

“Shut it!” I yelled in my head but didn’t dare say out loud. I told you Thing One scares me…

Some parts of Utah actually do have trees that grow larger than knee high.
(Personally, I think the trees might be a little bitter there.)

This particular tree is an overachiever.

All the other trees called this tree the ‘people hugger’ wannabe
It was really sad too… they all made fun of it because not one single person ever hugged it… except for me.
There’s a price to pay for being nice.

I told you Utah rocks the rocks…

I believe the last hour of this day Thing Two and I introduced Mini Me to the song “99 bottles of (Milk) on the wall” Had to keep it PG…

Sung in a frenzied state of delirium…

Jackson Hole, WY

The next day– you are never going to guess it but– WE DROVE!

Yes we did. (I know that shocks you.) The great part is that we didn’t drive far and were able to enjoy the quaint little town of Jackson Hole, WY.

Finally a place to eat– by eat I mean not a ham sandwich– and rest and enjoy the evening… !

Onward!

Shut it Thing One…

My grandmother visited America with her younger sister two decades ago. The sheer beauty of the natural world she saw through her drives around the country (which i imagine were much shorter than yours) made her surmise that the USA is the land most favoured by the Gods

    Anand, thank you so much.
I think your grandmother just might be right. Utah especially… the scenery, even if you never stop to explore, makes it worth the drive. I am so thankful I got to take this trip.
    Many blessings to you!

What incredible pictures! Utah looks wonderful. We can see the Rocky Mountains – the Banff ones – from Calgary and they’re great, but those rock formations in Utah are AMAZING!

Your pictures are the message, so many people are missing, that life is the most wonderful gift – to be able to see the sites, trees, the creations of nature that take your breath away. Thank you for the pictures, they are priceless.
