I’m Back

Kind of….

First of all I just want to let everyone know that I had a fantastic trip. The scenery across the United States of America is incredible!

It has taken me some time to get back into a schedule since I got home. I opted to homeschool the kids this year because of Covid and I’ve been desperately trying to get us all into a good schedule. Key word is trying

What I have learned is this: WHAT was I thinking?!?!

Apparently, I wasn’t.

Plus (and to be honest) it has taken me this long to figure out how to get my pictures to load into WP. It was a simple fix– resize them! But that didn’t hit me until I’d spend countless hours trying the same thing over and over…

OLDEST DAUGHTER: “Mom, Google it.” complete with a gum pop, eye roll and hair flip.

ME: “No, honey… don’t be silly. I’ll figure it out. You’ll see.”

And I did figure it out… after I Googled it. I just didn’t let her know that.

For those of you who have stuck with me on the Tori Story… I SO APPRECIATE YOU!!! Thank you so much.

But first…

A Quick, Road Trip Recap

First stop– collect the scary older brother…

Actually, my plan was to collect Thing One (Older bro) before Thing Two (Older sis) got there, then drive off and leave her. But unfortunately Thing Two knows me all too well… She was there when I got there.

So instead we grabbed some Starbucks and took a stroll to the Pacific Coast.

“Thing One,” says I “you’re leaving this place?”

Ventura Beach, CA
Balancing rocks? Pretty incredible if you ask me.
(Hey Beck, no one asked you)
I get that, but I’m just offering because I’m a giver like that.

We had a plan. Well, Thing One and Thing Two had a plan. They know better than to follow any of my plans… all my plans teeter on the edge of insanity. It’s a third child thing.

My plans always start with Hey, why don’t we… and then follow up with something like… jump off the top of a building and land on a tiny trampoline! I’ll go first!

(It’s a wonder third borns make it.)

The plan?

Go to Sequoia National Park

So, we are driving along and I’m like “Look, I don’t see any giant trees.”

And Thing Two (sis) says. “Just wait”

Then I whine “How much longer?”

That’s when my little Mini Me pipes in “Mom, really! Stop complaining. We’ll get there when we get there.”

I mean the nerve!

At the next available spot I dropped her off.

Mini Me has a name. It’s Ivy.
I would say I feel bad about leaving her but let’s face it, Ivy belongs with trees.

That will teach her.

Little known fact: I am a tree whisperer. Yes, it’s true.
I spoke with these trees.
They are twins and have been living together for roughly 1,000 years give or take several hundred years.

Here is a tidbit on how much trees love me. Just in case you are interested.

General Sherman– the tree not the man. In case you didn’t know the man has been dead for quite some time. Since 1891 to be exact.
I tried to hug General Sherman but he wasn’t having it.

The Sequoia’s were incredible. Sometimes words fall completely short. This is one of those times… I look forward to visiting this forest again.

Oh, and by the way… I think I saw the Peddler wandering through the woods but I couldn’t be sure. Honestly, it wouldn’t surprise me if he was there.

Next stop… Yosemite National Forest

Thank you! Yes, Google and I are bestiesโ€” I often wonder how in the world we managed without internet. OR how we suffered through dial up internet! ๐Ÿ˜‚
Homeschoolingโ€” letโ€™s just hope we all make it out alive.

Love the trees, they are amazing, and Ivy is just in the right place :). BTW Can’t comment any more on the reader version, it’s flagging up annoying notifications instead!

Very cool. I’m sorry, but your comment about being the tree whisperer only made me think of the Smothers Brothers singing I Talk To The Trees. https://youtu.be/Pwk3AylVpX0

Thing Two everybody! She has graced the hallowed halls of the comment section. (Itโ€™s about time you came back)
She has also accurately predicted the future past.

Your daughter is right. These days, “Google it” is a good recommendation. My colleagues told me to do all the time ๐Ÿ™‚

Beautiful pictures. Sounds like a great trip. We got to RV across the United States last summer and ultimately that trip played a role in our decision to move from Ca to TX. Best trip ever.

    Thank you Nicole!
The trip was fantastic. We took an RV from NC to the Grand Canyon when my older two were little. It was an adventure.
    Congratulations on your move!
