The Most Important Relationship

Your relationship with the present moment– the Now– determines the quality of your life. It is the single most important relationship in your life, and if you can master this particular partnership, you will have mastered life.

You see, good and bad come and go. It is the natural ebb & flow of form and cannot be avoided. You can resist the bad by saying: “I don’t deserve this.” which causes conflict until the bad thing passes on. Or you can cling to the good by saying: “I do deserve this, therefore it is mine” which also causes conflict once the good thing threatens to move on.

All things, both good and bad, pass on. It is the natural order of the World of Form.

Either way, resisting or clinging, the end result is conflict. This stems from taking life personally. Truthfully, the broader sense of ebb & flow is not personal at all— it just is what it is.

If you want to be harmonious with the ebb & flow of life, then learn to ask this important question no matter what circumstances arise in your life:

“How is my relationship with Life?” Or “How do I feel about what is Now?”

If there is a feeling of conflict, then you can rest assured you are taking life personally.

Always remember, conflict arises when you resist what is or cling to what was. Maybe you desire conflict, if so then continue to resist and cling. But understand it is your choice. Don’t make yourself a victim by taking it personally.

If you desire harmony, then offer this single most important relationship– your relationship with Life– unconditional love, by allowing the present moment the freedom to be as it is… no matter what form it takes.
