The Magic Wand

Daily Dose #82

If you were here with me I would give you a magic wand. It’s an incredible tool, ultra powerful and can cast stupendous spells.

To be honest you probably already have one, but maybe you disregard it because you don’t believe in magic. I’ve got several of these bad boys strategically placed around my house and in my car. So many that like I said, if you were here I would just give you one. Maybe even two, because well… you’re you and you’re awesome!

I even keep one in my purse… I will tell you though, sometimes it disappears.

*poof*

Gone.

I would be lost without my magic wand as it has the capability of manifesting something out of nothing…

You heard that right.

When I want something, all I have to do is take out my magic wand and write it down, and then… wah lah! after a bit of time, effort and energy on my part the very thing materializes.

Whatever it is you want, want to do, or want to have. Write it down. Review your list everyday and then take small baby steps to making your list manifest.

In time, you too will experience the magical power of writing things down!

On a personal note:

The summer I turned eighteen I told my parents that I wanted to take a trip to Europe. They said “Sure, if you can find a way to pay for it!”

Honestly, I think my folks were just humoring me, fully believing that there was no way I would be able to come up with the money anytime in the near future.

Little did they know… I had a magic wand.

Straight away, I wrote down the word EUROPE in big bold letters on a little notecard and placed it on my nightstand so that I could see it every night. Each night, I feel asleep thinking about my trip.

In an act of faith, I also placed a $20 bill from every paycheck I received in a little envelope marked “Europe Trip” that I kept in my nightstand. After six months I had a whopping $120.00 set aside for my trip.

And that’s when the real magic happened…

That Christmas I received an unexpected bonus from work. It was around $2,900.00. This covered my round trip plane ticket and Eurail Pass.

An exchange student from Germany needed a place to live for a semester– my parents offered her housing in exchange for housing for me.

It took one year but the following summer I celebrated my nineteenth birthday in Europe. Mind you, I didn’t have a lot of money to eat but that was ok. I came home thinner but the trip was worth it.

Generally I try to steer clear of personal stories during daily dose but I think this is a classic example of what I’m trying to get at.

The Magic Pencil Wand works! You really should give it a try…

Excellent Beck. We should know to demand. Great post.

I love this advice, write down what you really want and keep it somewhere you’ll always see it, that way you’ll always work towards it. Also, I enjoyed reading your story! That’s true determination 😁👏

Great story. Believer it, achieve it . If you think you can, you’re right. If you think you can’t, you’re right.

Lovely story Beck. A very close friend moved back from Singapore to Mumbai a decade ago and wrote down 10 aspirations that he wanted to manifest.

Over the next few years, all of them came into his life, including an outlandish wish to ride in a helicopter over the city.

The power of intention is greater than we imagine. You understood that at a very young age.

Anand, thanks for sharing. It’s so true. Almost everything I’ve written down had come true. I say almost because I’m always writing new stuff and the new stuff takes time… always. But it will arrive soon enough!

I think the magic wand approach works

Beck, i totally agree, and I like that you said pencil, not pen. I am a pencil person. All the best! Cheryl

The pencil feels more earthy to me. Nothing wrong with a pen. They work too but like you— I’ll take the pencil!

This is a really interesting post and I believe in the power of positive thinking. I met two of my idols and spent time with them in ‘83. Betty Friedan, the American feminist, was one and she gave me the idea for the first article I had published, and Margaret Laurence, a Canadian novelist, and she told me not to “ever lose the gift of laughter” and that it would be “a natural part of [my] writing”. I now know she knew what she was talking about all those years ago. I think my “magic wand” had everything to do with meeting them. I’m going to enjoy your blog.

Love your story and way clear path to Europe Beck. The magic is in declaring what you want and making it as you go.
