Tend Your Mind Garden

Daily Dose #18

Always tend your mind garden.

Today, you eat the fruit of the thoughts that you planted yesterday. Nothing can be done about that.

However, the thoughts you plant in your mind garden now, will grow and bare fruit in a future tomorrow.

Before allowing a thought to take root in your mind, consider the fruit of the thought.

Will it nourish you? Good, then dwell on it.

Will it poison you? Then discard the thought and replace it with something else.

Or invert it. So, if “I am worthless” pops in your mind and you dwell on that you will eat the fruit of worthlessness. Take it from me – that fruit is rotten.

But if you invert that you might come up with, “I have so much to offer” ~ “I am a mover and a shaker” ~ “I accomplish so much”

Now, isn’t that so much more palatable?

It truly is delicious…

It is important to tend the mind garden by rooting out destructive thoughts and choosing to make room for only those thoughts with better ‘taste’.

‘Make good choices…’ ~ Beca (Pitch Perfect)

P.S. You have no idea how long I’ve been wanting to reference Pitch Perfect… This calls for a serious celebration. And yessss… I will!

No idea what Pitch Perfect is, but making good choices is a good idea. 🙂

Pitch Perfect is a 2012 American musical comedy. It’s a laugh out loud, watch several times, memorize multiple lines and quote them often kind of film.

Wise advice, Beck. Especially these days when there seems to be an undertow of stress tugging at everyone’s ankles. Thanks!

“Mind garden” – what a beautiful image. I think half the battle is learning to recognize the “weeds” – some of them have been there so long they are hard to see. Thank you for giving me a new image to use when considering my thoughts!

Yes, thinking in terms of a mind garden has helped me considerably. I’m glad to be able to offer you something new!

Ouch – I hate weeding — literally and figuratively. This was a good read for me today — I struggle with letting the weeds take root. Thanks for writing. I feel motivated to plant more nourishment in my thoughts today.

Oh I am so happy to hear this! Yes the weeding – it’s constant isn’t it? A true discipline but so worth it in the end.
May a deluge of pleasant and fruitful thoughts pour into your mind garden today! 😊

Yes to good taste, no to rotten fruit! The mind garden: an apt metaphor.

Our blogger I enjoy Dawnseeker – she says – our mind is a garden, our thoughts are seeds, you can grow flowers or you can grow weeds.

Speaking of Pitch perfect – I am still practicing to learn and sing the cup song. 👍

I love that! I will have to check out her blog.
Oh the cup song! One of my favorites. Guitar?

not playing the guitar if that is what you mean. just acapella. I find when we are hiking we tend to sing bits of songs, the cup song is one, Surfing Safari came up last time, and Simple Life (by casey abrams). Maybe I do it to scare the bears lol
