Daily Dose #71

Before I came here

I spoke with Love
(we are the best of friends, you know)

I said… ‘I absolutely refuse to go and live anywhere that isn’t full of magic.’

To which Love replied. Oh, there will be magic.

‘Really?’ I asked, intrigued. ‘What kind of magic?’

The kind of magic that hides in plain sight.

‘Hides in plain sight? Impossible!’ Honestly, I couldn’t believe my ears.

Yes, the magic will be everywhere. But so well-hidden, in fact, that…

First, you will doubt

Then you will hope beyond hope

And finally you will know

And when you know…

Humbled, you will fall prostrate

Enlightened, you will be unable to explain or express

Overjoyed, you will laugh until you cry.

This magic trick that I am going to perform– you will not believe it until you experience it.

For you see, you will feel unwanted, abandoned and truly unloved. Separate. Like death. The most intriguing part is that I will be with you always, everywhere at once, but you won’t even recognize me.

‘It sounds scary.’ I said hesitantly, ‘kind of terrifying actually.’

Yes, it will be at times, but I promise you will always be safe. At the end when I finally open your eyes to the mystery you will cry out with sheer delight and pleasure. And… do you want to know the best part?

I nodded but said nothing. Love has always had a way of rendering me speechless.

Once the mystery is revealed, you will beg me to do the trick all over again.

Love paused just to let it all sink in, then added. What do you say, are you game?

‘Let’s do it!’ I cried without hesitation.
(You know I’ve always been a complete sucker for magic.)

And so with my consent Love blinded me and erased my memory. Then sent me off on the wildest adventure of my life.
