An Inside Job

Daily Dose #59

You can only receive those things that you already have.

For example… when I was younger I had a friend who never felt validated.

“No one ever validates me!” She would complain to anyone who would listen.

Others around her would always make comments like “You are so talented.” “You are beautiful” “You are a leader” and she was all those things!

You see, each of those are validating statements, but because she did not believe that she was talented, beautiful or a leader, she could not receive the validation coming from others. Even though it was always there.

“No, I’m not!” She would sulk.

She couldn’t receive what she didn’t have.

In this example, my friend had to learn to validate herself; it was only then that she was able to receive validation from others.

First, give yourself the very thing you feel you feel you lack. Whether it be acceptance, love, honesty, peace, etc. Look for it ‘in here’ and then it will manifest for you ‘out there’.

What you desire is already there. You just have to believe it is there for you, otherwise you won’t recognize it.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again– Life truly is an inside job.

Deceptively easy thing that is so difficult to actually self-implement . Astute observation.

Luckily I was born brilliant so don’t have a validation problem 😀

Validated by whom? Invalidated by what? Is anything that one person does or is of worth to anybody else, and is it necessary for that to be expressed? Yeah, maybe, if those people exist within a society that values synergy.

I love the thought behind this; we can only accept what we believe of ourselves. How well that stresses the importance of getting to know and trust our own mind and hearts better. 🙂
