Make Room

Daily Dose #76

Is there something in your life that you desperately want?

Then make room for it.

First, invite the ‘something’ into your life– otherwise it won’t know it is welcome.

Then schedule it into your calendar or rearrange your life and/or living space– otherwise it won’t know where it belongs and might feel like it’s imposing.

You must coax and woo your desires; this makes them feel wanted and welcome. A desire will never just barge in and take over. They are far too polite and considerate for that.

“Then, make room for it…”🤩🤩
(But first I need to make a room for myself🥺🥺)
Just kidding!😜😝
A true and insightful post!😍👌

Yeah, in times like these we tend to forget about our desires in lieu of necessities. Great post! Blessings!

How brilliant your points Beck. Thank you for this fresh perspective. Blessings 😊

Wonderful post! I always make “space “ for soul growth. 💚

Maybe a new desire. Chocolate has been invited in so many times, it barges into a room, sits down on my butt and puts its feet up as well as changing the television to whatever it wants to

Yes, one does need to make room for new things to come into their lives. Good post.

I love how you write! Poetic, but always true to its hidden meaning. Great point 🙂

I enjoyed this post because it made me think. I would like if you included a personal story or were more specific. Time management for me is something I struggle with, so many things i try to accomplish but at the same time I want to enjoy relaxing, walking and summer. So I jump from one to other. I do accomplish a great deal but I also see everything that I haven’t done yet. How do I make space for that?

I think time management is difficult for most people at first. But you have to be kind to yourself and keep the bigger picture in mind. Start small and I do mean small… but keep in mind all things are bound to grow.
When I first had a desire to start writing I made a commitment to write everyday for two minutes. Each day I put it on my to do list, set a two minute timer and wrote something. Horrible somethings at first! Over the course of a year and a half those two minutes turned into 2 hours (most days). Still there are days I don’t feel like writing but I keep my two minute commitment.
In my case, my desire was to write and by scheduling it into my day I invited the writer part of me into my life.
I find a to do list the single most important tool- it is a catalyst to getting things done.
I keep a notebook / calendar but I don’t overfill it. I also carve out time on my calendar for things I enjoy, like relaxing, walking and summer.
I too have a plethora of interests, it’s hard to fit them all in in one day but you would be amazed how much you can accomplish by just devoting a tiny amount of time to a task each day. Perfectionism tells us we have to start and finish in one sitting. This is not true.
    Does this help?

Very powerful words and advice. So true, we have to invite and make room for our desires. I like how you’ve said it; they are far too polite and considerate to just barge in ..

Wonderful post as it gives a different perspective for me. 👌

I really like how you put this, Beck. It’s good food for thought for me. I’ve had four dreams this year so far about playing the guitar again (it’s been at least twenty years since I picked one up). This seems like a further nudge from God in the direction of making room for it again!

Good for you! I play guitar too and am a singer songwriter but kind of set it aside for a while. Life just gets busy you know?
I did start playing the piano this year— something I’ve always wanted to learn to do and I love it!
I’m so glad this nudged you— music is so good for the soul.

Beck good post. I’m inclined to believe you and I are cut from the same cloth—in a spiritual sense. I was taught long ago in a galaxy far far away that in order to have blessings you must make room for them. And congrats on the Kennedy Award nomination! Blessings and Peace.

Beck, I like this post…The way you stated your message got my attention more than if you had said, “It’s important to prioritize!” All the best! Cheryl

I’m glad— you know… it’s all been said before sometimes you just have to find a different way to say it! 🤗
